L’esposizione sonora Datasonificazione, nello spazio non c’è il suono è il secondo episodio della rubrica SONO PANORAMA del collettivo Sonnenstube, inserendosi nella programmazione annuale intitolata 40’000 km/h : fuga dalla terra, una programmazione a volte itinerante, a volte inaspettata che segna un anno di svolta per il collettivo. Lasceremo questa terra?
Con Datasonificazione, nello spazio non c’è il suono, Sonnenstube è felicie di presentare le produzioni sonore di Yimei Zhang + Carlo Fochetti, Marco Papiro, Katarina Sylvan, FERA e Giovanni Rendina. La mostra segna la continuazione della coproduzione fra Lumpen Station e l'associazione luganese. Durata della mostra: 1h 1m 45s.

The sound exhibition Datasonificazione, nello spazio non c'è il suono (Datasonification, in space there is no sound) is the second episode of the SONO PANORAMA column of the Sonnenstube collective and is part of the annual program entitled 40'000 km/h : fuga dalla terra (40'000 km/h: escape from the earth), a sometimes itinerant, sometimes unexpected program that marks a turning point for the collective. Will we leave this earth?
With Datasonificazione, in the space there is no sound, Sonnenstube is happy to present the sound productions of Yimei Zhang + Carlo Fochetti, Marco Papiro, Katarina Sylvan, FERA, and Giovanni Rendina. The exhibition marks the continuation of the co-production between Lumpen Station and the Lugano association. Duration of the exhibition: 1h 1m 45s.

Yimei Zhang (Guiyang, Cina, 1990) vive e lavora a Locarno. Curatrice indipendente, fotografa, coordinatrice e mediatrice in progetti di scambi artistici e culturali. Si è laureata presso i Dipartimenti di scenografia d’arte e Nuove tecnologie dell'arte presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera di Milano nel 2014 e 2017. Ha partecipato a diversi progetti tra cui residenze, esposizioni e fiere d’arte, mettendo in relazione scene artistiche di diverse zone geografiche, lavorando tra Svizzera, Italia e Cina. In particolare nell’estate del 2016, ha fondato Fuzao Studio a Milano, la cui attività è caratterizzata dalla produzione di libri d’artista, che vengono presentati ogni anno in fiere di settore sulla scena internazionale; Dal 2021 fa parte del gruppo direttivo de La Rada, spazio per l’arte contemporanea, come co-direttrice.
/Yimei Zhang (Guiyang, China, 1990) lives and works in Locarno. She is an independent curator, photographer, coordinator, and mediator in artistic and cultural exchange projects. She graduated from the Departments of Art Scenography and New Technologies of Art at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan in 2014 and 2017. She has participated in several projects including residencies, exhibitions, and art fairs, connecting art scenes from different geographical areas, working between Switzerland, Italy, and China. In particular, in the summer of 2016, she founded Fuzao Studio in Milan, whose activity is characterized by the production of artist's books, which are presented every year in art fairs on the international scene; Since 2021, she has been part of the management team of La Rada, a space for contemporary art, as co-director.

Carlo Fochetti vive a Losone, ha studiato musica elettronica e successivamente Sound Design for Performing Arts, sotto l’insegnamento del maestro Giorgio Sancristoforo presso il SAE Institute di Milano. La sua ricerca sonora esplora soprattutto sonorità ambientali e suoni organici derivanti dalla materia.
/ Carlo Fochetti lives in Losone, he studied electronic music and then Sound Design for Performing Arts, under the teaching of Giorgio Sancristoforo at the SAE Institute in Milan. His sound research explores mainly environmental sonorities and organic sounds derived from matter.

Katarina Sylvan (1989) è un'artista svedese che vive a Londra e lavora tra scultura, testo e suono. Dopo essersi laureata con un BA in Belle Arti alla Konstfack University of Arts & Crafts nel 2014, ha lavorato come pittrice scenica per il teatro al Riksteatern di Stoccolma e ha creato opere d'arte per luoghi come Fylkingen, ФОМО e Into the Valley Festival. Si è laureata al MA in Scultura al Royal College of Art di Londra nel 2019 e da allora ha esposto tra gli altri presso Non-Space, Aarhus, Platform, Stoccolma e De:Formal Gallery, Intersticio, Londra, Galleri K4, Oslo e Cylinder Gallery, Seoul. Il suo lavoro ha ricevuto premi dalla Kenneth Armitage Foundation, Gilbert Bayes Trust, Konstnärsnämnden e Konstakademien. Attualmente è in residenza alla Cité Internationale des Arts di Parigi.
/ Katarina Sylvan (1989) is a Swedish artist based in London working across sculpture, text, and sound. After graduating with a BA in Fine Art from Konstfack University of Arts & Crafts in 2014, she worked as a scenic painter for theatre at Riksteatern in Stockholm, and created artworks for venues such as Fylkingen, ФОМО and Into the Valley Festival. She graduated with the MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art in London in 2019 and has since then exhibited at Non-Space, Aarhus, Platform, Stockholm, and De: Formal Gallery, Intersticio, London, Galleri K4, Oslo and Cylinder Gallery, Seoul. Her work has received awards from the Kenneth Armitage Foundation, Gilbert Bayes Trust, Konstnärsnämnden, and Konstakademien. She is currently in residence at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

Marco Papiro (1975) è un musicista sperimentale, produttore di musica elettronica, artista del suono e graphic designer nato a Basilea, Svizzera. Di formazione classica fin dalla tenera età, ha suonato violino, sintetizzatore e basso in diverse band prima di creare e pubblicare la sua musica autoprodotta come Papiro. Le sue influenze sono numerose e udibili: drone, minimal, folk di tutti i tempi e luoghi, psichedelica, classica contemporanea, industrial - ma anche easy listening, pop e persino musica new age. Le sue composizioni sono generalmente strumentali, meditative e ipnotiche, ma a volte anche bizzarre e umoristiche. Papiro è un polistrumentista con una passione per i sintetizzatori dell'era pre-programmabile - l'EMS VCS3, il Moog Sonic Six, il Roland Jupiter 4 e il Serge Modular tra gli altri.
/ Marco Papiro (1975) is an experimental musician, electronic music producer, sound artist, and graphic designer born in Basel, Switzerland. Classically trained from early age, he played violin, synthesizer, and bass guitar in several bands before creating and releasing his own self-produced music as Papiro. His influences are numerous and audible: drone, minimal, folk from all times and places, psychedelic, contemporary classical, industrial – but also easy listening, pop, and even new age music. His compositions are generally instrumental, meditative, and hypnotic, but at times also bizarre and humorous. Papiro is a multi-instrumentalist with a fondness for synthesizers from the pre-programmable era – the EMS VCS3, the Moog Sonic Six, the Roland Jupiter 4, and the Serge Modular among others.

Giovanni Rendina (1991) è un curatore indipendente e dottorando di ricerca presso l'Università del Molise. La sua pratica di curatela prende in considerazione la politica dell'arte in termini di soggettivazione individuale e modalità DIY.
/ Giovanni Rendina (1991) is an independent curator and PhD student at the University of Molise. His curatorial practice considers the politics of art in terms of individual subjectivation and DIY modes.

FERA è l’identità audio di Andrea De Franco (1989), pugliese di base a Bologna. Per dieci anni ha registrato dischi che non ha ascoltato nessuno, e dal 2020 ha cominciato a pubblicarli con Maple Death Records. Fa parte dell’entità collettiva Undicesima Casa e la sua non-casa editrice è DE PRESS.
/ FERA is the audio identity of Andrea De Franco (1989), an Apulian based in Bologna. For ten years he has been recording records that no one has heard, and since 2020 he started releasing them with Maple Death Records. He is part of the collective entity Eleventh House and his non-publishing house is DE PRESS.
